Help the stewardship crew with invasive species removal at Jacobs Pines Preserve in East Madison. 

Invasive species are organisms that spread beyond their native range and cause harm to local ecosystems.

We will meet at the Wesserunsett Stream Preserve Trailhead, hike into the site either on the Blue or Orange trail depending on volunteer preference, and work within the floodplain to hand pull shallow-rooted, easily identifiable plants before their seed capsules mature. We’ll bag the pulled plants and pack them out with us such that they can solarize and be disposed of properly without risk of spreading the plant itself.

Please be sure to wear long pants and shirts made of thicker material to protect from Stinging Nettle that may be present.
