HALLE BEELTJE, COMMUNITY TREE STEWARD
they/she/he
Halle is excited to join the Somerset Woods Trustees team this year! Hailing from western Massachusetts, she began her passion for land conservation with exploration of local conservation areas.
She studied natural resource conservation, with a concentration in forest ecology, at UMass Amherst. During college, she engaged with her community through volunteering with the Arena Civic Theatre as a stage manager and with the Massachusetts GSA Student Leadership Council as a regional volunteer. After college, she worked with Harvard Forest to census a research plot near the Quabbin Reservoir.
Outside of work, Halle can be found enjoying a good book, exploring the outdoors, or checking out local businesses.
Somerset Woods is pleased to partner with the Maine Conservation Corps to host the Community Tree Steward, an AmeriCorps position that provides an opportunity for individuals to lead forestry resiliency projects that engage residents in underserved communities. At Somerset Woods, in 2026 the CTS works to strengthen our volunteer program, grow our wood bank, and support the many ways in which volunteers assist with the care and enjoyment of conservation properties.
