NATHAN KALLIN, SEASONAL STEWARDSHIP
Nathan grew up in rural Maine with a strong connection to the outdoors fostered by a childhood spent hiking, skiing, and exploring trails across the state. As a result, he spent a lot of time on and around trails. At 9, he spent 5 months thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail with his family. At 12, he and a classmate hiked the 100-Mile Wilderness. Now, Nathan and his family are responsible for maintaining a section of trail off of the A.T. in the Bigelow Range. Nathan has a deep love for the Maine wilderness, and cares deeply about ensuring that people can continue to use and appreciate the wild places in Maine.
Nathan is entering his senior year at Carleton College where he studies physics and mathematics. Outside of school, Nathan plays Ultimate frisbee for Carleton CUT, which won the Division 1 National championship for the 5th time in program history this past spring. He also does research in optical physics studying the deadly currents that form below low head dams, as well as working in the college-run woodshop.
In his free time, Nathan enjoys wood carving and furniture building, as well as outdoor rock climbing, and can often be found at various crags across the state.
