Parkman Hill Farm Trail Building: McCarty Meadow Extension

  • Parkman Hill Farm 380 Parkman Hill Road Solon, ME, 04979 United States (map)

Do you love building trails? Do you love walking and hiking trails? Are you curious about how trails get built? Have you been patiently waiting for Somerset Woods Trustees to install more trails at Parkman Hill Farm?

If any of these apply to you, you’re in luck! On Friday, Nov. 7, we will host a trail building/clearing volunteer event at Parkman Hill Farm! The event's goal is to complete a new woodland trail connecting the North East meadow loop trail and the McCarty meadow loop trail.

Not only is this an opportunity to get under the trees and see some of the beautiful woods that cover much of our property, but you will also get a chance to see how we build trails and learn some of the skills yourself. If you’re already an accomplished trail builder, all the better!

The connector trail itself is a little over a half-mile long, and the weather is getting increasingly cold, so bring layers! We will provide everything else, but if you can bring a water bottle to help us reduce our use of plastic, please do. We will meet at the yellow farmhouse, 380 Parkman Hill Road, at 10 AM, make our way down to the start of the trail at the McCarty meadow, and work our way north!

Help us plan a successful event by letting us know your plans to volunteer.

To participate, please register here.
