Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Updates

Sadly EAB has been identified on Passamaquoddy tribal lands. EAB was found in Lowelltown Township during ash seed collection early this September, making it the first detection of EAB on any tribal lands across Waponahkik. You can view the update on the Maine Invasive Species Dashboard.

Seed Collections

Ash seed collections have begun with a student group from Marti Stevens helping Emma collect seeds from trees at Wesserunsett Stream Preserve (Skowhegan). Another ash seed collection is planned with students from the Skowhegan High School for late September!

Interested in participating in a community science project? Want to use a giant sling shot? Sign up for one of our Ash seed collection events for late September or early October! With the continued spread of EAB it is important that we collect seeds from Black ash while we still can. You can register to volunteer at the button below!
