Improving the Resiliency of Your Forest

  • Skowhegan Free Public Library 9 Elm Street Skowhegan, ME, 04976 United States (map)

Please join District Forester Jason Hilton of the Maine Forest Service and Climate/Carbon specialist Andy Whitman of the Maine Forest Service for an informational meeting at the Skowhegan Public Library on Wednesday, May 13th at 6 PM. Andy will briefly cover climate change impacts on Maine’s forests and achieving forest resilience.  Jason will describe the new WoodsWise Resiliency cost share program developed by the Maine Forest Service and how to enroll. If you have been wanting to improve your forest’s resiliency but the cost has been too high, this program could be for you. Qualifying practices and the application process will be discussed as well as how these practices can improve the health and resilience of your forest land.  Some of the practices include pre-commercial thinning, control of invasives, crop tree release, and planting southern tree species.
