Volunteer with Somerset Woods Trustees to help split firewood for the Somerset Woods Share, a firewood bank aiming to help those in Somerset County with heating emergencies by supplying small allotments of firewood as needed during the winter months. The purpose of this event is to start building up the SWS firewood reserves so they are seasoned and ready for distribution come winter!
Participants should expect to meet at Parkman Hill Farm (380 Parkman Hill Rd, Solon) for a safety chat, volunteer sign-in, and PPE distribution. If you have it, please bring ear/eye protection, gloves, and boots. SWT can provide ear protection and gloves if needed. Water bottles are also recommended; extra water and some refreshments will be available.
This event is suitable for those 14 years old and up. Any cutting/bucking of logs will only be done by SWT approved sawyers. Proper PPE (sturdy boots, eye/ear protection, and gloves) will be expected of all participants, with additional proper PPE for any sawyers. Gloves, ear, and eye protection will be available if needed.
