RESCHEDULED FROM JUNE 7 !
Put on your hiking boots and get moving with your family and/or friends while enjoying the outdoors and a great story!
Join the New Portland Community Library and the Somerset Woods Trustees as we collaborate to bring you the debut of New Portland's first StoryWalk®. The permanent installation is hosted by Somerset Woods at Whitten Woods, our newest conservation acquisition. The walk begins and ends at the trailhead on Wire Bridge Road at the Historic Wire Bridge.
Our first story is "The Path," written by Bob Staake. The path flows through fields, forests, mountains, rivers, and caves. Like life, sometimes the path is easy, but often it's difficult and challenging. "The Path" encourages us to forge our own unique path through life.
The StoryWalk® trail spans .4 miles in and .4 miles out. It is a relatively easy hike. Please practice tick safety. Waterproof trail shoes recommended - the preliminary trail has some squishy spots. (Reach out if you’d like to join the volunteer crew to help make improvements to this newly conserved property!)
